Perfect playback with Realplayer (10)

One of the drawbacks of the Realplayer format was the inability to buffer videos before viewing them (and again and again). Fortunately, starting with Realplayer 10 (see our installation guide), it is possible to buffer a whole video clip, before viewing it (much like the Quicktime player). If you experience problems while viewing streaming videos on this site (for instance if the playback stops in the middle of a clip), make sure that your preferences are correctly set. You can check this as follows.

• Go to a page with a video clip, move your cursor over the Realvideo pane, right-click with your mouse, and select "Play in RealPlayer", as is shown below.

• In the menu Tools, select Preferences, and in Preferences "Playback Settings" (listed under "General"). By filling in the values as below, a video clip will be buffered completely, if you are viewing a clip with the external RealVideo Player.
  
  

• Furthermore, make sure as well that under "Connection" the settings are properly defined for your internet connection as well. Something like this:
  
  

• If you now play a video clip in the external RealPlayer (by using the right-click of your mouse as in the first figure of this page), a video will be buffered first, as can be seen from the greenish status bar at the bottom of your realPlayer, see the screenshot below.
