Le départ "dit debout ici" pour la version d'origine se faisait au niveau de la pierre plate sur le sol au fond du dévers, d'où le nom. Qui était aussi un clin d’œil pour Hale-Bopp surgit des ténèbres (Le ciel profond pour les astronomes c’est le ciel sans lumière apparente à l’œil nu). En partant de là, le 6b n’est pas volé et la voie est bien fatigante pour les avant-bras. En sortant au bout à gauche après le coin « du ciel » afin éviter le risque d’une mauvaise chute par la plus aisée : compter plutôt 6b+. Il est possible de partir presque allongé ou assis pour deux ou trois mouvements supplémentaires, les plus faciles de la traversée, mais qui augmente tout de même la continuité d’un cran en 6c/6c+ suivant la sortie adoptée : personnellement celle de gauche, sans pareur).
