Boulder Pad and Shoe Hire in Font posted by canuck ~ 30.01.2009 08:11

I am a Canadian climber who will be visiting Font in mid-March. I'll be traveling through Morocco and Spain for 1.5 months prior to arriving in France. I would love to do some bouldering, but I would like to know if I can hire/rent a bouldering pad for a few days while I am in Fontainebleau. Can I rent shoes as well? I'll probably bring mine anyways, but it could save some space.

we rent pads no problem, but shoe hire does not exsist over here, you can buy a really good pair of shoes from the man in the van at rocher sabots, he re soles old shoes and sells them cheap

The man in the van will normally let you rent a pair of shoes for a day as well.
But it's still worth bringing your own, no? Chances are you'll find some good bouldering in Morocco and Spain as well...

If you stay at my Gite & B&B www.bonadresse.com/ile-de-france/la-chapelle-la-reine.htm I can rent you some of the very bes crash-pads (BBZ, the only local brand) for 20euros / week or 10 up to 3 days(but you cannot come here and stay only 3 nights, can you ???!!! ahahaah !!).
For the shoes, Sebastien rents some ON WEEK ENDS ONLY at La Roche aux Sabots car park, but there is no guarranty of quality and sizes, as his choice is rather random, so it sounds a better idea to bring your own, as it doesn't really take much room.
Hope to see you out there, climb safe so that you can enjoy the sand stone.

Bleaumone est un peu agressif (surtout contre Neil) mais c'est vrai que ça devient lassant de voir se multiplier les posts faisant la pub de untel ou untel....alors pour mettre tout le monde d'accord ça serait pas possible de créer une page sur bleau.info regroupant toute les informations de logement, location de matériel etc... ?

I am planning a trip to font at the end of the month i am arriving at Font Avon and will be on foot for my trip, about a week and a half. No car as i am just finishing up work on a farm in the south of france. I was wondering if there are places nearby to find a pad or other basic supplies? Thanks to any help that can be given

Hi Joe,
Try www.thehouse.fr The House do accommodation in Tousson near Fontainebleau and also do pad hire.
Guests who stay at The House can use pads for free and if you are lucky they may lend or hire you a bicycle to help you get around the forest.

Et pour les histoires de pub, etc. Au départ, ça répond quand même à la question d'un futur visiteur, et je pense que c'est une réponse adéquate. Pour éviter ce genre de topic, il faudrait peut-être ajouter un onglet "infos pratiques" ou quelque chose dans le genre, pour tout centraliser (loc de pads, chaussons, magasins, gîtes, salles d'escalade, etc.). À moins que l'on considère que ce topic fasse office de page d'infos (ce qui serait dommage).

J'espère que les Bleausards vont bien, même si les croix ne sont pas trop au rendez-vous, soyez bons, à bientôt
