Tagged boulders... posted by jpr ~ 12.04.2010 20:05
The existence of engraved overhangs at Bleau cannot justify the modern activity of tagging. People practicing "street art" are requested to stay in their quarters (or to mark the walls of their own gymnasium if they are climbers...)
If he is a climber posted by jpr ~ 12.04.2010 20:13
If the photographed person reads this message, could he give some explanation?

This kind of thing can not be tolorated in the forest or anywere for that matter, evev if it is on a rubbish bit of rock in the back of the forest
I think we should all take notice of this and try and stop it for future generations, I for one want my son to enjoy the forsest when he grows up
Disgraceful posted by Simon Pensom ~ 13.04.2010 15:35
I think this youth needs to be seriously disciplined for his reckless vandalism. I for one, would have no issues with a short custodial sentence and perhaps, a public flogging. It would hopefully stop other young hooligans partaking in this rebellious and destructive behaviour.
Very wrong, but apology has been given posted by fatdoc ~ 13.04.2010 21:18
May I suggest people read the link to UKB forum above. There is a full apology.

if one reads the whole story, it seems to be happened at some old sand mine (around larchant i guess?), where this kind of stuff appears to be usual and not at all related to climbers in a special way.
(just do an internet search on the subject).
Now, this topic and picture on the first page could have two unwanted effects
a)Giving ideas to stupid guys.
b)Offering a case for any future restriction on any climbing area ("not only climbers chalk rocks, they even carve them as we can clearly see in the above picture bla bla bla")
my suggestion is to...well, just make the whole subject disappear.

"it seems to be happened at some old sand mine (around Larchant i guess?), where this kind of stuff appears to be usual and not at all related to climbers in a special way" so what?
It's still moronic. Vandalism like this suggests a lack of respect, for the place, for how we came to be here, and for oneself. What's the next excuse? "It was only an easy problem I chipped, nothing classic"?
Sadly we are seeing a similar attitude in the Peak District. Too much chalk, hints of a wire brush and graffiti on rocks.
We only have this one playground, please everyone; be nice to it.
