5+6, the new topoguide of Bart van Raaij posted by jpr ~ 09.07.2012 19:49
7+8 has been a best seller for 10 years thanks to its innovating concept and the high quality of its design. Bart van Raaij now proposes 5+6 Straight ups in Central and Southern Fontainebleau, which describes 4000 problems graded 5- to 6c+ in the areas of Central and Southern Fontainebleau. From its recent publication, 5+6 has immediately become the indispensible topoguide of climbers of that grade and of all of those who aspire to discover new boulders. See our forum for a more detailed review.

The publication of 7+8 in 2002 has revolutionized the way to conceive a topoguide. For the first time, problems were presented according to their grade and not in addition to circuits. It has immediately become a best seller, confirmed by its completed reedition in 2009... already out of print for months! The high quality of the design and the precision of the maps has evidently greatly contributed to this success. The inimitable "trademark" of Bart van Raaij can now be found in 5+6 Straight ups in Central and Southern Fontainebleau, a first volume which presents 4000 problems in the areas of Central and Southern Fontainebleau, with grades from 5- to 6c+. In more than 320 pages with color photographs, the climber will travel in often original or brand new sectors before discovering them thanks to easy to follow accesses. One could say that the investment of 30€ is soon paid for itself if boulders were only consumer goods. But Barts knows perfectly that the forest is fragile and hasn't forgotten to recall the rules of respect of the environment and of the other visitors in a well-named "What matters" page.
