The second (2007) edition of the guidebook 7 + 8 is for sale eleven months now, and again it received very positive reviews. I would like to thank all reviewers for their effort to write about my book. The most pleasing online review can be found at the Stone Country weblog:
"The new guide '1789' Straight-Ups in Fontainebleau (a significant number in France!) is a work of genius, pulling together complexity into a clear and logical layout, with a simple and elegant design, allowing the climber the time just to climb! The maps are all cross-referenced and super-accurate, it's a lifetime's reflection of a love of the forest from Bart van Raaij - the book simply became known as 'Bart' on the trip, we passed 'Bart' from hand to hand, threw it on the ground a thousand times, drove over it, spilt espresso on it, sat on the bog with it with dirty hands, hit slobbery dogs with it, used it as a sun-shield, rain-hat, left it out in the dew... and it is still in one piece, so the production standards are pretty rugged. As I said, a work of genius, if you are operating at 7a or over."

Corrections 7 + 8 1789 straight ups in Fontainebleau (Nov. 2008)
Despite all effort that was made to eliminate errors, here are some corrections (PDF) you can make in your copy. I would like to thank Jean-Pierre Roudneff and Jean-Jaques Naëls for their help. In this list I only include errors in problem locations, descriptions, names and numbering and just a few grade changes. Down- or upgradings and new problems can be found in the database of this website and are not included in the list.
General note: the black numbers following the area names at the bottom of the left-hand pages, refer to the area numbers on the map on page 290 and not on page 288. Furthermore, the grade in the second caption on page 187 must be 7b and not 7b+.
