Meschia meets Bleau, since this site offers clothing from the E9 collection. E9 is the brand by Mauro Calibani, former worldchampion bouldering and the main developer of the Italian bouldering mecca Meschia. Based in Ascoli-Piceno, E9 is a fully Italian job, both in design and manufacturing.
Climbing clothes can be divided into the classic alpine brands and the new pure sportclimbing and bouldering brands. The alpine brands apply a lot of technical materials (such as Goretex), but focus mainly on elderly wannaby hikers who go for a walk in the woods with their dog. The sportclimbing brands are far more stylish and target of course much more the climbing and bouldering communities, but apply most of the time cotton for their garments.
E9 separates itself from the rest in many ways, as it is not only one of the most stylish brands you can think of, but it is also about the only sportclimbing brand that does apply technical materials for their garments. Especially the sweaters / coats from the winter collection are made of technical materials. This makes E9 the most stylish brand for climbing and bouldering, with clothing that is very functional as well.
What's new in the winter collection?
The E9 winter collection has been renewed considerably, so we will list the major changes here. The material of the all-time favorite G-Bó is nowadays much more 'refined', such that the heavy sweater with zipper and hood feels 'smoother' now. Together with the new colors, the G-Bó will remain very popular in the coming years.
The G-Bó will have competition from a new cousin, the Wolf. The Wolf is a woolen sweater with hood, which is partially made of the same materials as the G-Bó, but does not have a zipper and is lighter. Without a doubt the Wolf will become very popular, and might even surpass the G-Bó!
There is always an 'expedition stretch' sweater in the E9 collection, and this time it is the Mutona. This sweater with crossed zipper is warmer than the previous Muta sweater, but still has a lot of freedom of movement due to the stretch material. For the first time a ladies version of an 'expedition stretch' sweater is available as well, i.e. the Iana. By the way, the material of the Iana is somewhat lighter than the material of the Mutona. While the fit of the very shaped Taji can pose problems, this is less an issue with the Iana due to the stretch material.
For the rest the winter collection has been complemented with new Montone
trousers, and new hats such as the Fester and E9 cap.
