What Europe - Sport Vertical is for Europe, is The Climber's Handbook to England & Wales to those parts of the United Kingdom: an overview guide with all climbing locations. The difference between the two guides is that the England & Wales guide contains climbing walls and gyms as well. The first half of the guide is called the 'wet' section, that is, where to go climbing in gyms when it is raining. Every public wall in the country is included along with a photograph of over 90% of walls. The whole area of England and Wales has been split up into 22 different areas that each form a rectangular area map. These are around the major cities of: Plymouth, Bristol, Guildford, Canterbury, London, Ipswich, Oxford, Gloucester, Cardiff, Bangor, Birmingham, Leicester, Norwich, Hull, Sheffield, Liverpool, Leeds, Doncaster, Keswick, Newcastle, and Glasgow-Edinburgh. Each map illustrates all the climbing walls in the area along with all the dedicated climbing shops and associated services such as exhibitions etc. The maps also illustrate outdoor local bouldering venues. In this section, the climbing shops name, addresses and opening times are given, plus an indication to the level of equipment that is stocked from beginner to expert. Local climbing club details are given along with website or contact details.

The second half of the guide is called the 'dry' section, and describes
the 600 most popular climbing areas, while the well-known Jingo Wobbly icons
describe the relevant chatacteristics of these areas, so that aspiring
climbers do not need to waste any time to get to the best crags. Maps cover
all the climbing areas and at an instant illustrate where the bouldering, trad
or sport climbing is located. Data for each cliff is given such as height,
walk-in time, aspect and number of routes in each grade, etc. All local
climbing guidebooks are illustrated and where to buy them. Bouldering venues
are given location maps, while access and bird restriction details are given
where applicable. Around 50% of the cliffs have illustrative photos.
The Climber's Handbook to England & Wales contains more background information about the described areas than Europe - Sport Vertical, and less quirky symbols than most of the other Jingo Wobbly guides. This makes this guide a excellent reading experience for anyone, who wants to have a good overview of the climbing possibilities in England and Wales.
